Walter Haverfield is seeking a skilled mid-level/senior associate to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess 5-7 years of experience specializing in commercial real estate law with a focus on leasing transactions.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, negotiate, and manage lease transactions from inception to completion, with direct client contact and minimal partner supervision.
  • Handle various aspects of leasing transactions, including lease extensions, lease expansions, lease amendments, recognition agreements, SNDAs and other documents customarily associated with commercial lease transactions.
  • Provide strategic advice and counsel to clients on lease agreements and related transactions.
  • Oversee junior associates and legal staff in lease-related tasks, delegating responsibilities as needed.
  • Collaborate effectively and directly with internal teams and external parties including developers, landlords, tenants and real estate brokers.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • 5-7 years of experience in commercial real estate law, with a significant focus on leasing transactions across retail, office and industrial properties.
  • Proven record of independently handling commercial lease negotiations and transactions with minimal partner supervision.
  • Strong understanding of commercial real estate contracts, leasing agreements, and general real estate law.
  • Experience in acquisition, disposition and commercial development transactions is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex legal issues clearly and concisely.
  • Detail-oriented, organized with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Walter Haverfield is seeking a skilled mid-level/senior associate to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess 5-7 years of experience specializing in finance-focused commercial real estate transactions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage commercial real estate finance transactions, independently, with minimal partner supervision, from inception to completion.
  • Draft and negotiate complex loan documents and agreements for transactions involving multiple lenders and financing sources.
  • Oversee due diligence, including title and survey matters, ensuring accuracy and compliance with client and legal requirements.
  • Provide guidance and supervision to junior associates and paralegals on assigned tasks, delegating responsibilities as needed.
  • Participate and contribute to the acquisition and disposition portion of the transactions as needed.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • 5-7 years of experience in commercial real estate finance, demonstrating proficiency in both borrower and lender-side representations.
  • Proven ability to independently manage complex transactions with minimal partner oversight.
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills, particularly in commercial loan documentation and intercreditor agreements.
  • Familiarity with tax credit transactions is highly desirable.
  • Experience in commercial real estate acquisitions and depositions is highly desirable.
