Celebrating 80 Years of Service
This year marks a major milestone for Walter | Haverfield eight decades of providing legal service to our clients.
It was in 1932 that Paul W. Walter, D. Rusk Haverfield and Joseph Poe formed Walter, Haverfield and Poe. The firm initially focused on municipal, county, state and national government law work - a practice that remains strong to this day, with representation of numerous municipalities. Soon after, our attorneys began labor law representation, another long-standing practice group that continues to grow steadily.
At the start of World War II, Poe left the firm, resulting in a name change to Walter | Haverfield. During the 1960s, the firm underwent another name change Walter, Haverfield, Buescher & Chockley - to recognize the contributions of Loyal V. Buescher and F. Wilson Chockley Jr. By the 70s, the firm doubled from 10 to 20 attorneys and then doubled again by the 1980s. By the end of the 1990s, it had more than 50 attorneys and represented a number of new practice areas, including tax and wealth management, real estate and health care.
In 1992, both of the original founding namesake partners died, and as a tribute, the firm name reverted back to Walter | Haverfield. Today, led by Managing Partner Ralph Cascarilla, Walter | Haverfield continues its legacy of proven performance, personalized client service, and a reputation for providing value.
